Installation Types and Methods

• New installation vs upgrade
  • New installations will replace all Linux files, to include all settings and customizations
  • Upgrades will find and update applications only (consult documentation on web or CD)
• Install from CD-ROM
  • Newer computers can boot from the CD-ROM
  • Older systems require you to create boot floppies
• Install from Local or Network Drive
  • You can copy CD files to a hard drive first
  • Network installation requires a special boot floppy
